4-min Multiculturalism Speech
Incase you don't want to write your own speech
I am going to be typing a multiculturalism speech that I wrote myself. Hope you enjoy it. Also, you can use it if you don’t want to write a multiculturalism speech yourself. Well, some bits of it. Don’t just write it word for word. Anyways, enjoy!!
Everyone has a story (the speech)
“Every single person in the world is a walking book. We’re all filled with different stories about where we come from, what we’ve achieved, what we dream of. That’s what’s so amazing about humans. And that’s what multiculturalism truly is. A rich library of stories, experiences, and perspectives.
But it takes a special power to listen to these stories. One we should take the time to learn.
Too many times in life, people get laughed at, or made fun of, just because they bring different food to school. Like, just because we eat burgers and fried chicken, doesn’t mean we should be rude to the people who don’t.
This is the opposite of multiculturalism. I hope everyone takes the time to listen to each others stories, because you will definitely learn a thing or two.
So stop fiddling with your fingers. Stop trying to find a new freckle on your leg. And listen to my story instead. Because I’m telling you, it will be interesting.
My story starts in a hospital. I was already cool, because apparently I was really cute. Another thing that added to my uniqueness was my name. It means the earth, so basically the entire world is named after me. Man, I’m a lucky person.
Now, I want to talk to you about the word, multiculturalism. It already gives us a clue about what it means. The word “multi” means more, or everyone. The word “cultural” means other races, and cultures. And then “ism” well, it just sounds better with it.
So multiculturalism means every culture, in simple form.
Anyways, let’s get right back into my story. And multiculturalism. And another example is how I started playing cricket.
So I was watching cricket on TV, and India and Australia were playing. I didn’t think I’d like it, but I was hooked in. From that moment on, cricket became a hobby. I would always borrow cricket books from the library, I would beg my dad for cricket gear, and I would tell him we had to go practice.
But here’s the multiculturalism bit. India is in the northern hemisphere, while Australia is in the southern hemisphere. So two cultures from completely different areas of the world, are igniting kids dreams. And it’s not just India and Australia. It’s a bunch of other countries as well. Now that is pretty cool.
Finally, I want to talk to you about a car. We all know that Isuzu is a type of car or ute brand right? And we’ve all seen its ads on TV. You know the one that goes like this?
GO YOUR OWN WAY!! (You must add a lot of enthusiasm and voice projection to this. It captures the audience’s attention!!)
Yeah, I love that ad. And I saw a version of it where it explains what going your own way means. It said that being unique and different, will always be a good thing.
Did you hear that? I’ll repeat it again. Just incase you still are trying to find that missing freckle. Going your own way means that being unique and different will always be a good thing.
Look around you. Everyone is so much more than what they look like. Maybe some of us celebrate different holidays, while others pray to God. Maybe some of us want to be pro soccer players when we grow up, while others have experienced grief. These differences don’t seperate us. They make us stronger.
So next time you see someone who has a different hairstyle to you, don’t judge them.
Next time you hear someone have a different accent to you, don’t judge them.
Next time you see someone not ordering fried chicken at KFC, I repeat: Don’t judge them.
Because there is always a story, just waiting to be heard.”
Thank you!! I hope you enjoy that speech. I know I would if I was the audience. Remember there is always a story.
Also, Tully is awesome.
